I was having trouble locating the VIN for my CJ8 and I finally found it on the inside bottom corner of the left fender, and the reason for it being there is cause it wasn't assembled in the US or Canada. I've been able to trace some History behind this jeep, mainly from hearsay, and would appreciate if anyone has any more information about these cars:

1. Its one of the 100 assembled by JEEP AFRICA LTD in Nairobi Kenya in 1983

2. Its a right hand drive, 2 door full hardbody. (VAN? - Overlander style)

3. JEEP AFRICA Ltd broke apart soon after that.

4. JEEP AFRICA was a joint venture between AMC Jeep and GM Kenya

5. Originally came with either a 4 cyl petrol or

6. the VIN is obviously quite strange, and most VIN decoders cant come up with much. It's BHABM88HXDN001590 I'm hoping someone can shed some light to this mysterious Jeep.

Thanks, Wangai

Update: I've managed to decode some of the VIN: CJ-8 VIN DECODED:

I just finished painting it chile pepper red when this picture was taken. it has steel horse seats and a rail system which allows me to mount either a rear seat, small truck box that fits perfectly in between the wheel wells, my spare tire, or a mixture of the three. I also have a full hard top which was made out of two cj-7 tops. I turned the swing away spare tire carrier into a two jerry can holder and ammo box holder to carry tow straps and other off-road stuff. the axles are still the 30 and the 20 with one piece axles and 4.10 gears. the body and frame are in excellent shape even though I live in the rust belt of the north east.
009740 6cyl,5spd, ½ hdtop, ps, pb Nancy Rifkin It has 91,000 miles on it. Weber carb, Clifford valve cover,2" body lift, 2" suspension lift,15x10 American Racing rims w/ 32" Kelly Safari Radials. Plan to keep it in stock form with the only modifications being OEM equipment add on’s (ex. Jeep Hardtop/Doors).  It’ll be interesting to see if I can resist the urge to lose the 4cyl.  Slooooooooow!

009808 6cyl, ½ hd top Tom Charles 33" tires, "311,215 miles and I still drive it every day"
010313   Craig Quinn, GA It has all of the original stickers on it (i.e. the inspection stickers from the factory, tags near the radiator, the "Ford" tag on the computer located behind the glove box, etc.)It has the original 258c.i.d. engine, original t-5 transmission, original axles, original paint, original locking console, and even the original scissors jack under the hood. To make a long story short, it is all original except for the spark plugs&wires, alternator, fuel pump, and i think my dad changed the water pump. I have 99% of the documentation on it, such as the owner's manual, bill of sale, original title and tag registration (it was registered 10 times and i have 8 of the 10 tag receipts), i even have the insurance card from the first time it was insured. All of these, plus more are stored in the original vinyl&plastic pouch that comes with every new car. It has the original brown paint and nutmeg trim, also with the original high back bucket seats. As far as i can tell it is an SL Sport package (I'm not sure if that's correct but it is the top of the line jeep and has all of the options). The only other thing left to say is that it has very little rust, the original rims, and the engine has never been rebuilt. If anyone has any questions, comments, etc. they can email me at david_136@hotmail.com

012098 2.5 GM 4 cylinder engine, T-176 & Dana 300 Chuck & Judy, Belize

It has 1993 Doors, Seats & 3rd brake light from a donor Wrangler.  Paint is original except for doors.  We purchased in Oregon from second owner.

Jeep had been in the Philippine Islands for some time with the first owner.  It was reportedly buried with volcanic ash from a major eruption.  Everything that had liquid in it had to be rebuilt or flushed extensively.  After driving it in the US a couple years & getting it ready for life in a third world country, it was delivered to Belize in Central America.  It is our daily driver & has been for over 7 years here in Belize.  Although we do not drive "off road", there is some room for debate regarding whether our roads are "on-road" or "off-road" in true nature.  We have a T-5 transmission to install within the next couple months to drop the rpm in the 2.5 & help us with our use of $9.65 @ gallon gas.

012115   Donald Walker, Jr., NM I have owned from brand new. Have both a short hard top and full soft top 4" spring lift, 3" body lift, 35X12.50 Goodyear MTR on AR wheels. Has a 258 bored 20 over, cam, header, and Mopar fuel injection. Has a NP435 tranny and 300 transfer case. Currie 9" both front and rear, 4.56 gears and ARB's both ends, disc brakes on all four corners. Vision Research seats, Tuffy console, 8,000lb Ramsey winch, dual Optima batteries. Custom in bed tool box, bumpers, winch mount and tire carrier. I call Farmington, New Mexico home. And by the way the new Bushwacker "pocket style cutout flares for a YJ" work real good on the rear of the Scrambler. Rocky Mountain Suspension can get just the rears for you, they did for me. The picture was taken on the Moab Rim Trail and before some of the latest mods.
013046 6cyl, ps, pb, 4spd, ½ & full softtop(s) James (Rafe) Gegenheimer, MD oversized aftermarket fuel tank & skid plate (stainless steel), & everything else is stock. Kayline full top, now. I also plan to add split hard doors, in the near future (preferably before next winter). First, however, I need to repair the engine & brakes. ... Actually the brakes failed on me, & I ended up sliding through a toll booth. A bit tense at the moment, but my memory of the look on the attendants face as I sailed past him & snapped off the barrier arm, was almost worth it. Anyway, I suppose it goes without saying that, until I can have everything in proper working order, again, my CJ-8 is non-functional.
013337 6cyl, 5spd Liz Reid, MN I'm the second owner. I have most all the paperwork from the first owner as well as my own. It is in need of a bit of work to get it running and hit the roads again. After having been stored (unrun) outdoors for the past 6 years, the aroma of "Eau de Field Mouse" will need to be removed at the very least. It has a Six, T-5 trans.(rebuilt), and a full soft top with removable, quilted, aircraft insulation panels for temp. and sound control. It is white with a black interior. I'm thinking about adding a second bench so I can fit the kids AND some friends.
  015554 4cyl Cabel, IA Came stock with 2.5 liter 151 4cyl, Black paint with orange and yellow factory stripes (all original), Model 20 rear Dana 30 up front. I want to replace the frame and do a coil suspension system on it. I am also looking for a donor 92-95 Wrangler for engine tranny combo(4.0L w/auto). {his other CJ-8 is an '82}

update:I just finished my winter build on my 8 and thought I send an update for the registry. I finally decided it was time for the Rok Frog to grow. It's now SOA w/3" Black Diamond springs on fullwidth axles, the front is 3/4t D44 w/5.13's, Detroit, and a complete hi-steer crossover conversion, with the exception of the hiem joints, I build the entire steering system myself to include crossover arms and spacers. The rear is a GM cab-n-chassis 14 bolt w/5.13s, Detroit, and a disc brake conversion. It's stopped by a '68 Vette master cylinder swap. I've moved up to 38x12.50x15 TSL's on 15x10 white wagon wheels. While I was at it I fabbed up my twin stick conversion, swapped in a Ford Taurus electric fan, and added a Warn 8000.

The only things still original are the axles, frame, roll bar, tranny and rear drive shaft and the wire harness. The rear axles were replaced with one piece but the housing is original. The doors were in such bad shape that I put a set of doors from a 79 on the CJ-8. It is the best jeep that I own and I have another under construction.

Pat Reilly , BC Canada Purchased by ourselves, March 2005. Following info provided to us by the second owners:

1st owner is reported to have ordered it from the factory as a special order. It was delivered in Victoria , BC , Canada . He later took it to Yellowknife , Yukon Territories , where it was stored for a number of years before being purchased by the second owner.

The second owner bought it while in Yellowknife , & then they moved to the Williams Lake/Prince George area of British Columbia . From there they moved to Qualicum Beach area of Vancouver Island , B.C. They weren’t getting much use of  it, due to company vehicle use, so they decided to put it up for sale. The placed an ad in the local Buy & Sell, & that’s where my story fits joins in after.

My Story is as follows:

My first experience with a CJ8 was when I was driving westbound on the Yellow Head Highway , from Jasper, Alberta , to Prince George , B.C., ( Canada ), in the winter of 1982.

I was alone on the highway, dark of night in the middle of a snow storm, & had this Scramble run by me, & down the hill ahead of me like I was standing still. Never forgot that Scrambler, a black with silver trim & lettering, shorty hard top with wooden side boards.

Since then, pre-divorce, I had a 1971 Olds Cutlass Supreme ragtop. But post-divorce, the Cutlass is gone & the ragtop has been missed. Present date, we are in a different locale, & where we are, a muscle car is senseless… we are in a smaller island community, with no long stretches to make a muscle car worth while. To boot, the entrance to our property is about 1 kilometer (1000 yds) of single track, graded, gravel driveway, & 4-wheel drive is a necessity when slick or icy.

But my search for a ragtop has not stopped. It has just changed from a muscle car to something else, but the TJ/YJ just didn’t impress me that much. My brother had a 4 banger YJ, & we (my next & last ‘other half’) had the chance to drive it before he dumped it. But since then, test drives just left me unimpressed with their ‘buck board’ ride.

March 12 - My other half & I were in Anacortes , Washington State, for a nice sunny Saturday afternoon drive, & I saw a Scrambler cross the road in front of me. I remembered this truck, & so by the time we got home, I had decided to look on line to see if there were any for sale. Sure enough, found one online 4 sale on Vancouver Island (a combined 5 hr trip; 2 hrs by ferry & 3 hr total drive – 1 way). This is where the previous owner story & my own come together.

So I called the owner, Sunday evening, March 13, & asked about the truck. It was still for sale, & so we decided to travel over to have a look at it. My other half wasn’t too impressed by the on-line photo, but she was a trooper, & had no problem coming along for the ride.

Mon- Mar 14: traveled over to look at the jeep. At first look, my other half stated “it’s the same color as your old Cutlass!” After a short test drive, she was more impressed than I would have ever guessed. Note to self: don’t build up an unknown b4 u get there!!

Discovered: Copper colored,  6 cylinder, Automatic transmission, 115,000 kilometers stated original miles, full receipts since 1996 when purchased by the current 2nd owners, full length hardtop, vinyl high back bucket seats, Chrome: grill, bumpers, dash plate, rims, mirrors, hood latches, rocker trim strip; carpet, front & rear bed; AMFM Cass, tilt steering, cruise, & unbelievably - air conditioning!! Paint appears original, with some orange peal bubbling underneath along some of the seams, but seams checked on the backside, & most appear solid.

After the drive, & a go-over with the 2nd owner together, we hummed & they hawed. Eventually I decided to give them an offer (fair, but not insulting) & they decided to let us have it, after some thought.  The current owner didn’t want it to go to some young kid, & wasn’t a fan of selling it to someone that was going to cut it up & alter it. We hope to clean it up & register it as a collector when it’s eligible at age 25. Not far to go!! They had had previous offers, but I think they liked what we wanted to do with it, & so they decided to let it go with us.

Drove it back that afternoon, arrived home at about 9 PM Monday night. If some 1 had said that I’d be the owner of a Jeep come Monday night, I would have been surprised. But there it is!!

Tues night my son & I drove it over to a local jeep specialty shop to get some nick nacks (windshield wiper rubber, locking wheel nuts, mirrors), & the whole shop unloaded to have a look at it!! The shop owner had a quick look at it & felt the mileage & age matched the “original miles” claim. When asked if I had looked at others before this one, I said no. He said that I would have gladly paid more for this one if I had seen the shape others are around here. So I feel quite lucky, & pretty happy to have one of those trucks that I have always remembered. The front end is a little sloppy, but that will get fixed soon. Gonna want to get some more ponnies out from under the hood, so going to have to see what we can trim off the motor (NOT the A/C though) that will give up some more h/pwer.

We have celebrated since, with a cee-gar & a proper beverage, so the nickname “Copper Cohiba” is most appropriate!!

Now just have to wait for the right weather to get the top off!!

If I could buzz a control tower I would!! “Yee-Haw, Chester ’s dead!!” – Top Gun, 1986

040258 4cyl, 4spd PT Murray, TX I'm one year and counting into stripping my 83 Scrambler down to the frame and coming back. It originally had the 151, 4 cyl in it. That had to go away far far away. I just dropped in a 1974 AMC 360 in her. I had it rebuilt and boared out to 30 over. I had the entire body sanded, stripped and repainted. I got all of that put back together, she looks pretty damn good now. She's a sand color, the guy I bought her from and I keep in regular contact and he still refers to her as "the silver bullet". Because of $, I had to stay with the T-176 tranny. This is not a good thing and I understand this, but until the tranny got flying out the bottom, back, or top she is just going to half to do. All that is left to install is the electric fans, radiator, and painless wiring ( I'm sure this is an oxymoron Painless + Wiring = an unknown situation). Oh yeah I don't have any seats on the brackets yet, this may prove to be a problem later. I'll burn that bridge when I get there.

Deirdre Fuller, AL (purchased in Union City TN) This Scrambler is the wife's. She loves jeeps and trucks so the combination is perfect. My brother found this back home and we looked at it and then worked out how to purchase it. First thing she got was a "This is not my Husband's jeep" bumper sticker to put on it. The plans are to keep it close to stock and a daily driver. We've got a trail jeep already (at least until the daughter starts driving in a couple of years). I think the owner of the carlot didn't want to sell it. He had been riding in it as a daily driver for the 5 months they had it. I figure that just showed the vehicle was in decent condition. Bed and cab have been lined and it has a recent paint job. They matched the factory fairly well judging from the color of the engine compartment. It has the 6 cylinder and 4 speed manual transmission. Just noticed a little surface rust (4-5 bubbles) on one panel, and that's it. No noticeable bondo/dings.

This 1983 Scrambler I believe came from Iowa originally, but the gentleman I bought it from lives in Texas. That is why it still has Texas tags in the pictures, but it is now in south Arkansas. The Scrambler was already restored when I bought it. The only things I have done to it are Moser axle kit, new water pump, fuel pump, greasable shackle kit, and a new set of tires and aluminum wheels that are not in the pictures. It has the 258 six cylinder with power brakes, power steering, automatic transmission, and it also has an after market A/C that will freeze you out. It is a joy to drive and I have people trying to buy it all the time, but I have owned one CJ 5 and two CJ 7s and I do not plan on getting rid of this one. I know it should be left as is but I have a 351 Windsor I would like to put in it. So anyone out there that will send me some feed back on this subject feel free to so. Thanks everybody and have fun Jeeping.

046361   Rob Holmes, AZ Originally bought in Lake Havasu, AZ, I'm the second owner. It was stock when I got it... I-6 with a t-4. It's different now. V8, T-18, Lockers front & back, 4:56 gears, and 35 inch wheels. Soon it will have Full-Size Jeep Dana 44 axles front & back with a tera-low 4:1 low range kit for the Dana 300 Tcase.
046364 6 cyl, 4sp Eric Lillund, CA Original color was red. Tub is relatively straight with a few wrinkles. Very little rust considering it was stored outside for probably 7-8 years. Paid $600 for frame and tub, no other parts included. Future plans are to remove the "good stuff" from my CJ-5 to finish....   9" 40 spline floater 4.56 currie high pinion and a Summers spool(57"), Dana 44 w/Lock-Right(just scored a detroit for the front this afternoon) 4.56(57"),  4 wheel discs,  5.8 ford (in the machine shop now, install this fall), NP 435, Mastercraft seats, Terra-low 20.   047177 6cyl, 5spd Todd McGonagle, MN I have 5 different roofs, including the roof that is just a sun shade.. I could never get the Carter Carb & computer  to work, so I pitched them and raided a '74 Gremlin for an intake and 2 barrel carb which works great.  Low tech is better!
047486 6 cyl Eydie, NM It was an egg shell white. I hunt a lot and decided to camo it out. Right or Wrong  I find it very helpful in the field except when it's time to find it in the dark. Hah. We changed the gear ratio, added bigger tires, lift kit, anti-slip. It's awesum in the hills and I love not using 1st gear in town. I am still looking for a hard top for it. But for now I keep a soft top on it except in the summer and then the doors even come off. My boyfriend and I love every minute we spend in it, It has seen some pretty sticky places and has brought us home everytime. I bought it off of a kid in 1995 for around 2000.00. We have put every bit of 3000.00 in it and still adding as we go. Sometimes It takes us a couple of hours to get to town, when we only live about 20 minutes from it, oopps. Guess we took a wrong turn.

058123 Tom Leppien, PA I am not sure of any options it has on it but it is currently sitting on a 3" lift with 32 x 11.5 BFG with an AMC 304, T-176 tranny, a 300 transfer case, model 30 front diff, model 20 rear diff with one piece moser one piece axels. This is my snow plow and offroad truck so it takes a beating so as soon as I get a few bucks together it is getting an aluminum tub. Also I am going to try to send a pic so you can see the hard top I have for it and I am guessing but you probably have not seen this done before but I do also have a full soft top for it as well. You also said you want funny stories so here are a couple. Camp jeep 1999 in VA We went on the trail ride and there was everybody with there brand new stock TJs, XJs, and Grand Cherokees getting stuck left and right. Well about half way through the trail I snapped a (2 piece) rear axle so I took off the drive shaft and drove the rest of the trail and never got stuck once but I did manage to pull a few people out from being stuck in only front wheel drive. Another short story which wasn't funny at the time but now my buddies and I laugh at all the time. Reason # 1 to make sure you soft top is secured correctly. I was driving down the Schukill expressway through Philadelphia at rush hour doing 70 mph and mine blew off. Not cool! I also found out that you can t-bone someone at 60 mph and not do any damage to you scrambler but have the tips of your bumpers bent in about 2 inches. ( don't ask how I know )

I bought it to be drove and used.  I think I’m the 3rd owner.  Only has 53,000+ miles on it with very little rust!  Don’t plan any major modifications or repairs because it doesn’t need much.  We have an acreage and I’ve already found it to be real handy and useful.  I plan to keep it for a few years, enjoy it and then let someone else have fun with it.

There was little rust, but for the two panels under the front rollbar mounts, passenger floor and the exhaust which I thought was a cheese grader.  I drove it home under its own power. With the windows down (The exhaust was making me tired after 20 miles). The 8 is under going a rebuild now for the last two years. The divorce slowed me down, but I kept the 8 so I'm back at it again!

071108 Stock options from factory Overlander model: full steel hardtop metallic burgundy with nutmeg interior, 258 auto with factory floor shift Dom, Melbourne, Australia

I found this Overlander in Brisbane and have relocated it to Melbourne.

It's in fair shape but still needs lots of work, like most when you find them.  Currently a CJ-7 is my daily drive and I'm looking forward to alternating days with the 8 once it's up and running.

First all the non-original parts like flares, lights etc will be replaced with stock.

Plans are to fix the rust and patch the paint or respray in the original colour.  Interior will be changed to original black Laredo-spec seats and trims. I plan to fit an AMC 360, Torqueflite 727 and keep the Dana 300, then add a 2 1/2" lift, and 32s.   If I get all that done and I'm not flat broke I'll change the ratios to something like 3.73..will post pics when it's finished.

Charlie Jenkins, MD i just bought a 1983 jeep scrambler from the hereford vol fire co in hereford md. it was used as a brush fire fighting vehicle. i purchased it in running condition for 3650 dollars. the vehicle has a 65 gallon steel water tank and approx 250 ft of hose. the pump is under the hood, a panama pump, and works off a belt. the belt is being replaced and hence i have not been able to try the unit out. for the most part the vehicle is in pretty good shape. it leakes oil at the valve cover gasket. i gather that is pretty common on the jeeps. this one is a 6 cyl. it has a hard top and still has the flashing red warning lights on the hood. the rear bumper is a platform on which rested 2 portable indian pumps. the vehicle has some rust but the rust appears to be superficial. altho i guess i will find out more as i get into the project. it was kept in the fire house.

Cynthia, AR This was one of the nicer ones when she was new.  My dad bought it off of a guy he knew for $500 when I was 15 and we rebuilt the motor.  The guy's daughter had blown up the motor in it.  Currently my husband and I are working on refurbishing it.  We just had the transmission rebuilt (he's not very mechanically inclined and I don't have the time right now-but he's learning).  It's off white/tan hard top with a few odd dents and rust spots (namely because the last 2 years I went to college I sent it home for my dad and little brother to play with, they abused the hell out of it-pull starting buses and tractors, and pulling bulldozers up hills-not to mention my little bro 4-wheeling in it).  Any way currently its all original down to the paint and decals (except the mirrors and doors-doors were fiberglass and matched the top but were stolen off before I got it, and I had to burn the carpet that came in it-you don' want to know.), but to my dismay it won't be when we're done with it.  258-ST6, auto. tranny, chrome wheels-bumpers, A/C, electric start/carb-can't keep it set right and starting to get a few small holes in the floor.  Needs rewiring, new A/C, paint, seat covers, new back bumper (bent beyond repair), bondo, and more than 4 16 penny nails holding down the tappet cover.  Mileage is actual 58K.  Was 34K when I got it-Drove it for 6 years.  I've had 3 people in the last week try to buy it from me.  There are at least 6 in nwa that I know of.

I replaced the springs with super lift 10" springs for a Chevy in the front with custom hangers and shackles. A set of 12 " Chevy front springs that bolted right in the back. I'm running a set of 16.5 14 Eaton monster wheels with 40x17 groundhogs  my interior is a set of fiberglass race seats with RCI covers and 5 point harnesses, a lockable tuffy console,  a monster tach, and grant steering wheel. The beautiful paint job on my scrambler is army green and cost 30 dollars. It has a bikini top and hard doors. I made new floors with sheet metal, patched the holes in the body with diamond plate aluminum, and replaced all of the body mounts and bushings. Now its one mean mud slingin machine!!!!!!!

Dave Robinson , NY

I used to own a 1983 Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler.  I purchased it used from a local used car dealer in Arkport , NY 14807 .  I purchased it with 49,855 miles on it.  I believe it came out of Camp Hill , PA.   Mine was brown and had white steel wheels and a fiberglass half cap.  The fixed role bar was outside the cap.  Mine was an inline 151 with a four speed manual transmission.  I cannot recall the VIN and I will have to dig for pictures, but I recall that it was very trail worthy.  I bought it at a time when I was in a position to put up my brand new 1988 Dodge Ram Charger for the winter months.  Western New York is hard on vehicles.  My Scrambler was already showing signs of massive body rust through so I figured a little more punishment wouldn’t hurt.  The windshield leaked, the driver’s side seat bracket was rusted through the floor, the doors were racked, the exhaust manifold coupling was loose, the radiator leaked, the slave cylinder leaked, it started hard, and the heater core was blocked.  In other words, it was a great truck that took me places my NANCY Ram Charger would not go or fit.  My father used to ride in the back when we would go out spotting game.  He named it the “tail dragger” as the rear bumper would always skip off the ground when approaching an angle.  Eventually, we left the bumper on the trail.  Who needs the weight?

I wound up putting some money into it after a while.  New Rock Crawler wheels and BF Goodrich tires, radiator, Slave Cylinder, battery, new CJ Bucket seats from Sears, a bug screen for the grill, new hood cleats, a tonneau, a CB radio and antenna, off road lights, a Jerry can and a fire extinguisher.  Lot ’s of overheating electrical wiring.  I remember going to work one day with a new suit on.  Beautiful day, no top, no doors, no problem.  One problem.  It poured on the way home.  Wool does not like rain.  I used to take my daughter on off-road rides with it and used to cross a stream near our house.  We got wet a lot, but never got stuck.  I remember having to use a pair of vice grips on the lockouts a lot as they would never turn by hand.  God I miss that Jeep.

I finally sold my Scrambler to my Dad after I put lots of money into it.  A year later he sold it to a friend of mine who promptly tried to put a big block V-8 into it.  Boy did that go bad.  He lifted it and did major undercarriage work until it finally broke in half at the stress of all the welding and cutting.  It ran well into the early 1990’s before it finally was no longer road worthy.  Today, it is a planter, buried in the back yard of a home in Almond, NY.  It served well.  Recently I saw a dealer lifted brand new 2004/5 Jeep Scrambler?  I don’t know the official name of the new Jeep stretch Wrangler, but it sure looked familiar.  With the exception of being new, bright yellow, and with no rust on it, it reminded me of mine.  Of course I don’t recall paying nearly $30,000 for mine.  The one nice thing about my old brown one was that primer was the same color as the paint so you never knew except that most of mine was primer instead of gel coat.  I like the new machine very much.  I wish it came in a standard tranny instead of auto.  I may be old, but I’m not dead.  I like shifting gears myself.  Long live the Scrambler.  I have no time for a regular CJ.  Can’t put the dog in the back.

I was able to find some pictures of my Scrambler, circa 1989.  My ex-wife’s Dodge Raider is in the background.  What a great vehicle, the Scrambler, not the Raider.

Philip B, MN I also have a Mercedes ml 430,but  I use Buckie (My CJ8) for my summer daily driver, I get many more looks !!!! . I have it lifted and have a winch. Otherwise it is stock. I have had it off road on occasion and it performs great. Last winter I repainted it forest green. I will drive it to anyone in a neighboring state, or with a little twisting I will tow it behind the motorhome and wheel anywhere you are. Just call or email and I will come.
Darin Powell, CA I bought this 1983 Scrambler a in January 2008, from the original owner.  Original owner is an engineer who has kept everything, from the original purchase documentation to the last set of tail lights.  When I went to pick up the vehicle (I won it on Ebay), he provided me with 6 plastic storage boxes of everything that he has accumulated throughout the years.  Complete clutch replacement parts; brake systems; tail lights (6 sets); 6 wheels and tires; hand made body armor; and everything imaginable.  Owner kept it stored in an airplane hanger, and never outside.  Great shape with little modifications made by the engineer to the ARB Locker, i.e. pressure gauge on the dash, the body armor, and the interior - roll cage modifications.

Bought the jeep from AZ thinking it wouldnt have any rust. turns out jeep spent most of its life in Ohio.  So I have some rust repairs to do.  This summer I will be swapping in a 4.7 stroker I built from a 1997 4.0L from a cherokee.  I will also be changing over from the weak t-4 trans to a AX15 and converting the clutch to hydr.
